Dock Floats on a Pontoon: Why This Choice?
Updated: Aug 26
We are often asked: why do you use dock floats on a pontoon?
The answer is simple: because our products were designed from the start to be both docks and pontoons.
On the Nomad Dock® and the Navigable Dock™, we use polyethylene floats filled with expanded polystyrene foam (EPS), similar to those found on high-quality floating docks.
This choice offers several advantages for our pontoon-dock concept. These floats are strong, durable, stable and require virtually no maintenance.
Their foam filling also provides excellent flotation and allows the float to continue floating even if the outer shell were damaged.
They can also remain in the water like a dock, without requiring the same type of maintenance as a traditional pontoon.
However, using dock floats does not simply mean taking a dock and adding a motor to it.
The Nomad Dock® was designed as a true watercraft. Its structure, hydrodynamic deflectors, motor mount and overall design were developed to improve its behavior, efficiency and comfort while navigating.
The Navigable Dock™, on the other hand, keeps more of the behavior and purpose of a strong dock, while also allowing movement on the water with suitable motorization.
That is why this type of float makes sense for products that can serve as both a dock and a pontoon.
They allow us to keep what makes a floating dock strong: simplicity, durability, robustness and low maintenance, while integrating it into a watercraft designed to enjoy the water differently.
At E-Z Innovation, we design simple, strong and maintenance-free pontoons and docks made to last.
The video is in French, but the demonstration clearly shows the concept in action.
